The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work will help to bring you more closely into our world.
God bless you for your interest and your support!

2nd Week ending 26th January 2008
This was a good week! Learning has been going on well. On Wednesday we had some interruptions due to the political skirmishes. The children had to leave early before the situation got worse. The teachers escorted the children home ensuring they all got home safe. Sad to say that the situation worsened in the evening and we thank God that none of our staff or children was caught up in the skirmishes. On Thursday the situation improved and the learning continued with no interactions. Due to the chaos allot of the internally displaced persons have been brought to a camp here Limuru that is near our school. We have vaguely considered reaching out to the children but we are a bit reluctant because the process seems transitional. Once the dust settles we would consider admitting the children to the parents who will settle in Limuru. Most of these displaced families have come from a different province and the living conditions are very desperate. Our School counselor Anne Njuguna has been deployed to the camp to help the traumatized children by counseling them. We thank God for his protection amidst the entire fracas in our country. He has continued to shield us and protect us. All the programmes of the week went as planned. There were no other major incidents and the week ended well.

1ST WEEK STARTING 14TH ENDING 20TH JANUARY 2008
Happy New year to you all! We pray that the lords Grace will be sufficient to you all and to us too in this New Year. We are back to school and we opened our doors to the children on Monday 14th January 2008. The school was scheduled to open last week on 7th Jan but it was postponed due to the political violence in the country. Ninety three children were present on the first day of opening they however continued to report and by the end of the week most had reported back. We also had twelve new children joining the school and we are happy to have them and we welcomed them officially. The children were very excited to change classes after graduating to the next classes. All was in place for teaching to commence on Monday. The teachers were all present to start teaching. We however had a change of staff as we had teacher Jacqueline leaving us and we replaced her with Teacher Margaret Mwende who now takes up class two. The Accounts office was also busy collecting fees from the paying parents. We purchased most of the stationery and foodstuffs for the feeding Programme. The weeks Programme run smoothly including the timetable of different subjects. We thank God for keeping and bringing our children back safely. We however have four children who havent made it back to school as they are still held up upcountry. They cannot travel back because of the transport crisis and the political chaos. We however got in touch with their parents and they assured us that once there is calm they will resume back. Our first week was also with the absence with Reverend Samuel who has been away due to illness. He has been ill for quite some time now he is however improving and we continue to pray for his full recovery. Reverend Samuel and Monica are preparing to travel to the US early next month and they will be there for a period of six weeks. The main contact person will be Ron Mayer from First Presbyterian church. The term has started well with no problems despite the political uncertainty. We pray for Gods guidance and protection throughout the term. Please continue to pray for us as your prayers and gifts keep us going. The week ended well.
God bless Lilian Nderitu Administrator.

Please know that your donation can help, not only to save the life of a child in Limuru, but to guide that life in such a way as to loosen the stranglehold of despair and death that threatens so much of Kenya's population. Thank you, in advance, for your compassionate support!
