The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work will help to bring you more closely into our world.
God bless you for your interest and your support!

4TH WEEK ENDING 31ST JANUARY 2009
The week progressed well without any incidents.Learning activities continued with children gaining momentum as they approach end of month examinations. All last year grade eight students except one, have received letters of admissions to high schools and we are very proud of them.
Dry conditions have continued with food prices remaining threateningly high. This prompted the calling of a parents meeting on 30th January by the school management in order to discuss the prevailing circumstances and probably come up with a solution.
The turn up was good and after much deliberation the parents decided to chip in and add about $9 each in form of fees to try and meet the very high cost of food. They thanked the teachers for good last year,s national examinations results and expressed strong faith in Grace School.
Also due to the prevailing financial strain in Grace School, it has necessitated the cutting down of staff,in effect seeing three staff leave the school.Martha the administrator,is one of them and therefore this is the last journal entry I have done.
Thank you to all of you who have supported and continue to support Grace School as your labour in the Lord is not in vain. You for sure make a difference in the lives of very many people not to mention the very needy children. Once again may the Almighty God bless you and expand your territories.
Thank You,
Martha Ngera

3RD WEEK ENDING 24TH JANUARY 2009
The week progressed well with learning taking place as scheduled. All children and teachers were in good health a reason for thanking God.
Dry weather has continued with food prices at an all time high. This has necessitated major adjustments especially in the food rations of the children as we are adversely affected. The president has declared famine as a National disaster. Our prayer is that the conditions will improve and also our financial status.
However it is not all bad news as we have a reason to smile. This is due to the fact that Grace School has been noted for its good performance in last year's national examination. Accordingly we have received a congratulatory message from the area Member of Parliament and we feel honoured.
This is especially encouraging to Grace School community at large because we feel that somebody out there can notice our hard work. Below is the scanned letter from the Limuru Constituency Member of Parliament.
Thank you all for the support both financial and spiritual to the children of Grace School.
May God bless you.

2ND WEEK ENDING 17TH JANUARY 2009
The week has progressed well with no major incidents and we thank God for the divine favour. All children and the teachers are in good health and learning has picked up well.
The week was characterized with new parents asking for admission of their children to Grace School. We have 30 new students on board and still hoping for more. Majority of them have joined nursery school. This is very encouraging to us as it is a proof of the surrounding communitys faith in the school.
One of the major challenges we have experienced is in the feeding programme. We have had to make many adjustments in order to meet the demand mainly due to the high food prices and insufficient funds. Additional desks too had to be bought.
We thank God for a few showers of rain which gives us hope that the prevailing drought which partly contributed to high food prices will come to an end.
We look forward to a fulfilling coming week.
May the blessings of God be upon all the partners of Grace School.

1ST WEEK ENDING 10TH JANUARY 2009
Happy new year to all! We thank God for allowing us to enter into the new year of 2009 in good health and vibrant ready to face the challenges ahead of us. The school started well and learning has resumed as normal. All children are back and we are grateful for that.
At the close of last year we had the grade eight students sit for the national examination and were waiting with great anticipation for the results. The results were released and we are very proud of the performance. All the students except one with special needs (i.e. Josephine Gitiri with eye and ear problems) acquired the pass mark and even exceeded.
They will be able to get high school admissions which are dictated by the score in the examination. Due to the good performance Grace School has been noticed hence attracting new parents to enroll their children here. Although all the school programs have started, we are having a very difficult time as inflation due to economic meltdown has driven the prices of food and other necessities through the roof. We are working hard to make do with the insufficient funds collected as fees but are surely set for hard times if no financial help will be forthcoming. Our prayer is that no orphaned needy child who cant afford school fees will have to be sent away due to lack of funds.
Thank you all for your sacrificial support to this cause.
May God bless you and give you a wonderful new year.
Martha, Administrator

Please know that your donation can help, not only to save the life of a child in Limuru, but to guide that life in such a way as to loosen the stranglehold of despair and death that threatens so much of Kenya's population. Thank you, in advance, for your compassionate support!
