The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work will help to bring you more closely into our world.
God bless you for your interest and your support!

6th Week ending 23rd February 2008.
This was a good week. The weather was quite warm. The weeks Programme run successfully and all activities scheduled for the week took place. Towards the end of the previous week the children sat for their continuous Assessment Tests and this week the teachers were busy marking and compiling their marks. The subject panels will sit down to analyze the results. This week we also received a very generous donation of textbooks in response to an appeal we made for our class eight. We thank the donors for their kind act and we pray to the lord to bless them abundantly. The teachers helped cover the books neatly to ensure that they remain in a good condition for future use by the other children. The children could not hide their joy as they received the books. They assured the teachers that they will work extra hard since they have all they need now to pass their examination. The teachers too were very happy as the children will now manage to finish their homework in good time. The parents sent their gratitude for this generous act by the school. This week the accounts office also made some food purchases to replenish our food stock. We cannot however fail to notice the high rise of the food prices which has been caused by the unrest in our country. This will tremendously affect our feeding Programme but we pray that things will improve. We continue to pray that peace continues to prevail and an amicable solution will be reached by the fighting political parties. Reverend Samuel and Monica are still in the States and they continually communicate with the school. Their planned Programme is going on well and we thank the lord for them. There were no other incidents and the week ended well.

5th Week Ending 16th February 2008 This was a good week. The rains have continued to fall throughout the week. We start by giving God all the praise for the journey mercies he accorded Reverend Samuel and Monica during their travel to the US at the end of Last week. They traveled on Saturday and got there safe to a warm welcome by some friends in Knoxville. They have already started their tight schedule and we are praying for them. Here at Grace School things have continued to run smoothly even in their absence. Our weeks Programme and activities were successful. The children sat for their first monthly Continuous Assessment tests on Thursday and Friday. We will analyze the results next week and evaluate them. The Office was also busy and we successfully managed to register the school as an exam centre. We are glad that our class eight children are now almost set to sit for their main examination the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education toward the end of the year. The situation in our country continues to improve with no interruptions to our school programmes. We pray that the peace will continue to prevail. We have finally posted our Newsletter to our Website www.graceministries-limuru.org. Please visit it to have a glance and to update yourself on our progress and achievements. We thank the lord for his provisions and guidance. The week ended well with no other incidents.

4th Week ending 9th February 2008
This was a good week. The long rains are here with us. The children have continued to brave the chilly mornings to get here on time for their morning classes. Learning has been going on well and all the planned school activities took place. Reverend Samuel and Monica will be leaving today for their six weeks visit to the US. During their time they will report about our work here and they will seek to renew friendships with our existing friends and partners as well as get new friends to Grace School. We wish them a safe journey and a good stay there in the states. The political situation seems to be improving with fewer killings. The two main political party leaders are having mediation talks led by his Excellency Mr. Koffi Annan. We continue to pray for the situation to improve. We are already facing hard economic times and least to say that the school may be more affected especially with our feeding Programme. Our third quarter newsletter 2007 is now ready for posting to the website so look out for it any time soon. We are sorry for the delay which has been caused by the postponement of the opening of schools and also early this year Reverend Samuel was very ill. It will give details covering the schools third term 2007 as well as the financial statement for the year just gone. We sincerely continue to thank all of you who made it possible for us to finish the last year with less difficulty through your generous giving. Once again may the lord bless you. The office will continue to run smoothly even in the absence of Reverend Samuel. The week ended well with no other incidents.

3rd week ending 2nd February 2008 This was a good week. Teaching has been going on well. All the Children have continued to come to school faithfully. However we still continue to feel the effects of the post election violence as our town Limuru has also had some skirmishes. On Wednesday there was some rioting in our town Limuru and the children had yet again to go home early. The teachers escorted them making sure they all got home safe. On Thursday they resumed school and teaching went on well. On Friday last week we invited the class eight parents and we discussed some issues regarding the children. We particularly insisted that they help their children at this crucial time when they are getting ready to sit for their final examination at the end of this year. We were in agreement that we have a responsibility towards these children but we can not do that unless they help us. They further agreed to set the right environment for these children to study more at home. This was a very successful meeting and all the parents were in attendance. Reverend Samuel and Monica date of travel will be on the 9th February and they will be in the US for a period of Six weeks. We have compiled an update of our situation here in Kenya and we have sent it out to some friends. Reverend Samuel will also give more details when he comes to the US. The effects of the post election violence is also being felt at Grace school as the food prices have skyrocketed making our feeding Programme quite expensive. We have however not gone hungry and we thank God for his providence and protection. We continue to praise his holy name. There were no other incidents and the week ended well. God Bless! Please know that your donation can help, not only to save the life of a child in Limuru, but to guide that life in such a way as to loosen the stranglehold of despair and death that threatens so much of Kenya's population. Thank you, in advance, for your compassionate support!
