The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities – our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work – will help to bring you more closely into our day-to-day world.

God bless you for your interest and your support!

MID-MORNING TEA AND BREAD FOR CHILDREN & STAFF OF GRACE SCHOOL.

The temperatures continued to go down through the week with a mean of 18 high and 11 low (Degrees Celsius). Children were cold, as most do not have adequate clothing apart from the uniform.
The School Committee had a deliberation on Tuesday and decided that we introduce a mid-morning tea and bread as some of these children comes to school having taken no breakfast. This was implemented from Wednesday. The children could not believe when they were told to line up for a cup of tea on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Their faces brightened and kept pronouncing God’s blessing to the School.
Teachers have noted a positive impact on learning as a result of this intervention. Children are now awake, active and participatory in class. Our prayer is that God will provide the needed money to continue with this ministry. It costs $ 15 a day hence $ 90 a six day week.

Week ending 18th June 2005.

The week had a very erratic weather. There were days that were warm and others were very cold. Children had to get extra clothing on top of the uniform to stay warm.
Mrs. Jane Njenga the Head-teacher called all the class four children to discuss their children performance and behavior. The parents were very cooperative and they all came. The teachers wanted the parents to assist the children to do the home work. The teachers were very happy with the remarks parents gave about their children performance.
Two pupils who are orphans received school uniform from a local NGO called Lirindeti Self help group. The School also received $ 20 towards the feeding program from Home Care Fellowship; a local Christian group that helps the sick, orphans and the aged.

Grace Children gets pen friends.

The week has been very exciting for teachers and children. A correspondence was received from teachers and children of Bethel Presbyterian Church Kingston. It contained letters and photographs of Bethel Church Children wanting pen friends from Grace School. The concept of a pen friend was new to the Grace Children and the teachers took time to explain to them. Every child wanted to write and teachers were busy guiding it. The children are very happy to know that there are other children who pray for them with almost similar interest in life.
This process will help the children appreciate different culture and the extent of Gods love in a personal way. Let us pray for these children as they share life experiences with each other.
Thank you Bethel Church for this noble thought.
