The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work will help to bring you more closely into our world.
God bless you for your interest and your support!

8th Week Ending 30th June 2007.
This was a good and chilly week! The weather is now extremely cold. Learning went on well and undisrupted. This was however the pay week and the finance office was busy looking for funds. It is usually a hectic week as most of the time we rely on gifts to cover our operating costs whose main expense is on staff salaries. The number of sick children suffering from the mumps disease continued to increase and we reported the situation to the divisional health office. The health officers visited our school and they recommended that we advice the parents to take the children to hospital immediately they see the symptoms. The children should also stay home to prevent the disease from spreading further. This week the office also carried out a random comparative survey in the neighboring schools in terms of their curriculum, quality of teaching, available facilities and their charges. We thank God that though we charge the least fees we still rate highly in all the above. On Monica she was discharged from hospital early this week and we thank God she is doing very well. We thank you for your prayers and we will continue to pray for her quick and full recovery. The week ended well.
Be blessed! Lilian Nderitu Administrator.

7TH Week Ending 23rd June 2007
This was a rainy, cold, anxious and busy week. Learning went on well with the children.
There was however a lot of activities going on behind the scenes. Reverend Sam was quite busy as this was the week Monica was having her major surgery. The surgery was scheduled for Wednesday and we thank God that all went pretty well and we are glad that she is now recuperating.
The office was busy planning for a parents meeting which was scheduled for Saturday 23rd. All was is place by then and the meeting was successful and the attendance was good with 66 parents out of the 73 being present.
We had a number of issues on the agenda.
The Director Reverend Sam started with a bible exaltation and the theme was based on Amos 3:3 where he emphasized that two cannot walk together unless they were in agreement which was very relevant to our case where our work involves the parents, teachers and the children.
He went ahead to introduce the staff members to the parents as there has been changes as well as the new parents bringing in their children. He also updated the parents on the progress of the ongoing projects. We Thanked God for the financial support to finished and furnish the classrooms and the beginning of the Dinning/Kitchen.
The head teacher Mrs. Jane reported academic related issues. Our last terms examinations performance was read to the parents and they were very happy to hear how well Grace School had performed in relation to the neighboring schools.
She also reported on the Extra curriculum activities in the school and the already planned school trip in October was disused.
A new and better report book was introduced to the parents. This report book is more detailed and all examinations done will be filled in and taken to the parent to sign and give feedback. This book will ensure that we have constant communication with the parents about the childs continuous progress.
The head teacher aired school concerns to the parents in relation to the schools expectations on the children. She insisted that the parents have an obligation to ensure that the children complete their homework, come to school clean and maintain discipline. The parents promised to cooperate with the teachers.
The parents were also given a chance to air their concerns and give comments. Most parents thanked the administration and teachers for their hard work.
The last term's financial statement was read to the parents and our major deficit was read to them. It was acknowledged that without gifts given to the school it would be difficult to run the school. We have very few parents paying school fees while the majority are grand parents taking care of there orphaned grandchildren.
We wish to thank our partners and friends for their continued support for the work of Grace School.
The meeting ended well and the parents were offered hot lunch and refreshments.
The meeting took place inside a hired tent which was pitched inside the Hall under construction because it was raining. There was no room that could accommodate everyone.
The meeting ended with prayers.

Have a blessed Week!

6th Week ending16th June 2007
This was a good week. The rains fell heavily this week rendering the roads to the school impassible. The children had to use longer routes to get to the school. We had a few children falling ill and a few cases of the mumps disease were detected and the affected children stayed home to contain the disease and prevent it from spreading to the other children as it is highly contagious. However at the end of the week the situation improved and their progress was reported as good with a few reporting back. Our class seven children sat for their midterm exams on Thursday and Friday and we hope this will help them as they prepare for their main exam next year. The school also purchased a piano keyboard which will now liven up our morning devotions as we praise and worship. Our Music club will now be more active and we hope to train some few children how to play the keyboard. Teacher Patrick is a trained music teacher and he will assist training the children. The school programmes have continued to run smoothly as planned and we thank the lord for his mercies and provisions for Grace School. There were no other incidents and the week ended well.

4TH WEEK ENDING 2ND JUNE 2007
This was a good week. It was however a short week as we had a public holiday- Madaraka Day on Friday. The children had a break from Friday and were resuming on Monday. The schools programmes run well as scheduled. On Thursday we had a Teacher Jacqueline falling sick and she has been admitted in the hospital her condition is stable and we pray she will be out soon. The teachers also had a social gathering where we held a baby shower for one of our non teaching staff Josphat who cooks for us. He was recently was blessed with a baby girl. The teachers visited his place and had a celebration with his family. Grace School is now connected online as we had internet connection through Telkom wireless over the weekend. We will now be privileged to browse and read our mails right here in the school. We thank God for the availability of funds to pay for the connection. There were no major incidents and we thank God for the smooth running of the week. Have a blessed week!
