8TH WEEK ENDING ON 28TH JUNE 2008
This was a good week. All the pupils and teachers resumed back from midterm break Teaching started on well and everybody had relaxed and was ready to start the second half of the term. The weather had changed from what we experienced last week. It was cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon. I (Jane) was unwell and went to hospital on Friday. I had bad chest congestion that made breathing difficult and I was put on oxygen for five hours and I was discharged with medicines to use. I also missed my Saturday Classes which I love, but Samuel and another teacher took charge.
The school population is continuing to rise. On Monday 23rd June, two new pupils joined the school in class six and nursery class respectively. They were welcomed by their new teachers and pupils who were very happy. Josephine Gitiri (class eight) went to see the doctor on Monday 23rd June. Her ears were cleaned. She was given eardrops which she should use thrice a day. She will be going back for further checkup after a month. Her eyes were checked too. It was so shocking because she can no longer see with her left eye. She will go for further checkup but for the time being we are waiting for reply from the doctors attending her. We wrote to enquire more about her condition {comprehensive report} but we are yet to get a reply.
The school counselor Ann went to visit Robert Kamaus mother (class five). She is a single parent who is HIV positive. She was living with her brothers in his late parents homestead till lately when she was chased away by the brother. She is now living in a rented single room with his son Robert. We pray that the Lord will provide for her. She is a very dear Christian woman. The Lord bless you. Mrs. Miriam Mugambi. (Business Manager)

7TH WEEK ENDING SATURDAY 21ST JUNE 2008.
The week was very chilly with temperatures dropping 10degree Celsius, pupils have been wearing extra clothing on top of their uniform to keep warm. We usually experience this type of climate mostly July. Otherwise the week has been good with few incidences of sicknesses, we had a sick member of staff (teacher Patrick) has been unwell and hence been out of school. He reported to work on Monday but he was not be able to teach as he was feeling very weak. Josephine Gitiri (class eight) went to see the doctor on Monday16th as she had been advised. She was given ear drops to use for one week and she is going back on Monday 23rd June for proper cleaning. She is showing signs of improvement although she is loosing many class hours. On Monday we were able to assist three parents who are HIV positive get medical insurance cover This means the insurance will take care of bed and food in case they get hospitalized many of them go through hard times to pay hospital bills, although they get free ARVS, but incase of hospitalization you are supposed to pay your bills and hence the Insurance will help substantially. This term has 14 weeks and this is the seventh week and hence there is a midterm break on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st.The school resumes on Monday23rd June. Thank you for your payers and God bless.

6th Week ending 14th June 2008
This has been a good week. The weather has been quite chilly. I (Jane) attended a District Education Officer?s meeting on Wednesday. The Agenda was the introduction of a new District Education Officer. He expressed concern of the poor performance in the District and reprimanded some Head teachers for laxity.
Children Uniforms:
As we have mentioned in the past we are going to be gradually buying uniforms for the very needy and especially sponsored children until every sponsored children shall get a new uniform.
This time the lucky ones were: Beatrice Njeri class 4, Margaret Wangare class 7, Daniel Ng?ang?a class 4, Mary Mukuhi class 3 and Joan Wanjiru class 2. | | | | It was all smiles after they removed their old faded and torn uniforms into the new uniforms. |
Sickness:
Josephine Gitiri, a class eight pupil has been having sight and hearing problems. This has been a serious problem which was discovered at the school. The mother is both challenged in ability to understand as well as financially. The school has helped her to get professional Medical attention despite the constrained financial resources at the School. She has been to two hospitals and one Ear professional who have confirmed that she has problem with her one eye and ear. She is going back to the hospital on Monday to be advised on the way forward. Josephine requires this medical help if she is to continue learning. This is a financially strenuous on the school there is no funds for medical emergencies but we can?t ignore them.
Joseph Njuguna a class four pupil continued being away this week, because of the injury he got in school. The school has also funded him to attend Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment and he has improved.
Please remember these two children in your prayer.
Saturday becomes full day learning for Class 7 and 8:
After discussing with the Director and Teachers about preparing our children for the final examination, we agreed that the two upper classes and especially class 8 should take classes on Saturday until 4p.m. This will give teachers and pupils more learning time and preparing them too join good and in-expensive High Schools. There will be financial implication especially on feeding, but its worth the returns.
Thank you for all who read our journal and some give responses in various ways. God bless you.

5TH WEEK ENDING 7TH JUNE 2008
This has been a good week. It has been a busy week for teachers who were compiling end of May examinations results. It was the first week after Lillian left. Her work was being shared by Miriam, Jane and Ann as we wait for Martha to report 1st July. On Wednesday Jane was called to the Area Education Office to sort out on the registration number of the school that had been mixed with another. Jane and Ann visited the father of Zabron Gathua, class six and James Ngigi who is in class four. The father was diagnosed with diabetes in 1997 and his kidney has failure. This has over-stretched the familys finance as he was the sole bread winner and he must attend dialysis twice or thrice a week which is quite expensive. Joseph Njuguna a class four pupil, has been away the whole week. He is suffering from a wound on his leg that he sustained in the school. Michael Mungai is a class six newcomer who has also been away for a week. He is suffering from amoebic dysentery. All has been within control and we thank God that we were able to pay the end month salary. We thank our supporters for their faithfulness.
