The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work will help to bring you more closely into our world.
God bless you for your interest and your support!

12TH WEEK ENDING 26H JULY 2008
The week has been good without many incidents. The children have been busy revising for their end of term examinations which are starting next week on Wednesday. Teacher Patricks wife was involved in a road accident and suffered fractures in her hand and leg. She is recovering in a hospital in Eastern province. Due to that teacher Patrick has been away attending the wife at the hospital and we at grace school wish her a quick recovery. The hospital which Josephine Gitiri has been attending has released the official report on her ear and it is now confirmed that she will need a hearing aid. The eye report is yet to be released but we hope to have it on Monday the 28th.

However this being a cold season the children have continued to wear heavy coats over their school uniforms to keep warm. A kind of flu hit the School and a number of people were sick. Martha was bed ridden for two days with Malaria. Uniforms This week we were able to buy new uniforms for five of the needy children. This was made possible by the financial support from the sponsors. We continue to thank all the dear friends who have continually stood with Grace School to make a difference in the lives of these children. | | | From left: George Mburu, Kelvin Onyango, Lillian Wanjiru, Timothy Ngugi and Cleophas Oriechi. |
Josephine Gitiri's report Josephine visited the hospital again in company of Ann the school counselor. The eye specialist who attended to her delivered the sad news that her left eye is completely blind and even surgery is not a remedy. The official report is expected next week. Josephine is a brilliant, intelligent girl with a mother who is mentally challenged and she has no siblings. Pray for Josephine and
her mother.God Bless &ndash Martha Administrator
| Author: Jane Njenga Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 11:27 A.M. (Limuru time)This was a good week. We experienced chilly mornings and warm afternoons throughout the week. Martha W. NgeraMartha W. Ngera, the new school Administrator reported on Monday 7th July 2008. Throughout the week, she was taken through orientation in her various duties. Her son Timothy Ngugi joined class four. She comes with a very impressive C.V not only in paper but, emotionally and spiritually prepared to handle the challenges ahead. The Grace family welcomes her and we are excited to have such a motherly figure as the administrator. Josephine Gitiris comprehensive report on her ears and eyes condition was delayed by the doctors attending her in Kikuyu Hospital and so we had to send Ann (the school counselor) to go and do a follow up. She will go back on Monday 14th July 2008 with Josephine to be given the report. Jane Head teacher

9TH WEEK ENDING 5TH JULY 2008
This week was good. We experienced the cold weather for the better part of the week although some days were sunny. I (Jane) reported back on Tuesday after being away since Friday. Now am well and I thank God for that. Am still taking my medication and on Monday I will go for routine checkup.
Pupils did their end of June examination on Thursday and Friday. The exam was challenging. The analysis will be done next week.
Ann (school counselor) visited Robert Kamaus (class five) mother on Friday 28th June. Ann found out that, she has learnt to deal with her HIV condition and she is continuing with her ARVs. Ann is going to update Charles Irvine who is sponsoring Robert on a more detailed report.
I (Jane) had to deal with indiscipline cases from some of the pupils especially the senior classes. They have not been completing the work given by teachers and had failed to attend remedial classes on Saturday. The school counselor and class teachers have helped me discipline the pupils in the most appropriate way.
Friday was a happy day for the pupils. They were given bread with jam and margarine which we usually dont give and at lunch they received each a bottle of soda and it was all cheers from the pupils.
On Mondays and Fridays pupils hoist the National Flag led by a group of scouts. Although not all have the scouts uniform, they still do it in the best way. Hence I would like to thank teacher Martin (the patron) for the good work he is doing although he joined us recently. We are proud to be part of the scouts movement in the country, see photos below and see how good, confident and courageous the scouts look.
