Back to Current Journal

The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities – our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work – will help to bring you more closely into our world.

God bless you for your interest and your support!

16th Week Ending 25th August 2007

This was a good week.
It was however rainy.
The remedial teaching programme ended successfully on Friday. The teachers were happy with the outcome of the whole Programme. The children also attended the Programme faithfully.
Reverend Samuel was also busy preparing a CD covering a day at Grace and his work at the church (community Presbyterian Church). The CD will be of great help when they visit the states hopefully next time as this will show the picture on the ground of what happens here at the school.
We also finalized compiling the Newsletter and it will be ready in our website at the end of this month.
We have indeed had a good time both during the second term and during the remedial teaching time. We however had a lot of events going on behind the scenes but we kept going on strong. We also thank Reverend Sam and Monica for their support even though this was a very difficult time for them
We again want to thank our partners and friends for the support through gifts and prayers. May the good God bless you all.
We again break for one week and we will resume back to start next term on 3rd of September and we will also resume posting the journal then.

Be blessed!

15th Week Ending 18th August 2007

This was a good week.
We reported back on Monday from our short break and immediately started our remedial teaching. The sessions ran from 8o, clock to 1 oclock. The children reported in good time for the teaching.
As earlier reported this teaching will ensure that last terms work is covered and the exams are revised. It will also ensure that next term will run smoothly with minimal interruptions on the terms syllabus.
The office was also busy compiling the second edition of this years newsletter.
We anticipate that it will be ready at the end of the Month.
Teaching went on smoothly through out the whole week.
We thank God for your prayers and support.
May the lord bless you all!

13th Week ending 4th August 2007

This was a good and short week.
It was also the closing week. The school closed on Wednesday 1st August 2007 in the morning.
We had the children cleaning their classes thoroughly on Tuesday.
We had a brief closing ceremony where we rewarded the children who had exemplary performance. The top children in the classes were rewarded with tokens to encourage them and also to let the other children strive to excel and be rewarded next time. The neatest children were rewarded as well as the class monitors.
The children took some porridge and some few snacks before going home. They were very excited about closing. We hope they will get refreshed to come back and start a new term.
We resume back on 13th August for remedial teaching for the upper classes that is class four to seven. We also have remedial teaching for the lower classes for the children who have lower grades. We do this to prepare the children for the following term so that they are not left behind in their work.
The teachers also held a brief staff meeting to discuss the term and the end of term examinations. Other school related agendas were discussed, this always ensures that areas where they faced difficulties are mentioned and good work on the part of the teachers is commended.
This terms weather also favored us despite the chilly weather as we had our garden doing very well and we had a lot of fresh vegetables which really come in to save on the kitchen budget. Monicas cows also supplied us with enough milk for our morning tea we thank her for taking good care of the cows.
We also thank Reverend Samuel who has always been with us despite his busy schedules and the difficult time he has faced this term that is with Monicas surgery and also robbers attacking his home. May the lord continue renewing his strength to do the work he has called him to do.
We would also want to thank our partners and friends especially the East Tennessee Friends of Grace ETFOGS for their efforts and support to us. We have had a smooth term both financially and general activities that has been made possible by your generous gifts and prayers. We do also pray for you.
May the lord continue blessing you all in his own special ways.
We will resume posting the journal once we come back from our break that is as from 13th August 2007.

Be blessed!
