Back to Current Journal

The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities – our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work – will help to bring you more closely into our world.

God bless you for your interest and your support!

7TH WEEK ENDING ON 18TH OCTOBER 2008

The week ran smoothly with learning activities uninterrupted.
We experienced fair weather with a few intervals of scanty rains.

Preparations for the childrens annual trip are in top gear and is expected to take place on Thursday and Friday of coming week.

The lower classes i.e. Pre-primary to grade 3 will be visiting the national museum, animal orphanage, giraffe center among other places on Thursday.

On the other hand, the upper classes [grades 4 to 8] are scheduled to visit the Aberdare National Park located on the central highlands, west of Mount Kenya on Friday the 23rd.
Although we are experiencing some financial challenges due to the high cost of transport caused by prohibitive fuel costs, we are optimistic that before the actual day we shall hit the target and that the trip will be a reality.

Work on the dinning hall/ kitchen is still on with anticipation that it will be over soon.

We thank God for His grace & favor and also our valuable friends and sponsors of Grace School for continued support and prayers.

Grace and Peace

6TH WEEK ENDING ON 11TH 2008

The week started well and proceeded without any major occurrences. All the children and the teachers were in good health and we thank God for divine health.

Teacher Patrick got a teaching job with the government and has left to work in a public school. He has been replaced by teacher Faith who is full of energy and ready to assist especially class eight with their preparations for the national examination.
We continue praying for these students that they will experience Gods favour in the exams which are 4 weeks away.

Jane the head teacher and Miriam the school business manager were able to visit for the second time the Limuru girls hostel to follow up on the issue of two of our girls we wish to be admitted to the hostel as they are in particularly needy circumstances. We are yet to receive the feed back.

The construction work on the dinning/ hall kitchen has continued and is near completion with only the window panes remaining.

Finally, the children are excited as they look forward to their annual trip which is scheduled for 23rd and 24th October i.e. one day each for lower and upper primary.

We thank God for bringing us this far and are grateful to our sponsors for continued support. God bless you all.

Grace and Peace,

4TH WEEK ENDING 27TH SEPTEMBER 2008

The week ended well without any incidents. All the students and the teachers were present and learning continued uninterrupted.
Teacher Karanja and his wife Rebbeca were blessed with a baby girl and we congratulate them and thank God for the safe delivery.

Construction work on the dinning hall/kitchen continued with the plastering and flooring being completed. We are all excited at the hope of using the facility soon and we continue thanking our sponsors for the good work.

The Grace School community is very excited about the prospect of accessing small loans for business as one of our sponsors have promised to look for ways of making the funds available. They are all busy trying to finalize on the business plans. We are truly grateful for such a gesture.

May the Lord who rewards our efforts bless you all.

5TH WEEK ENDING ON 4TH OCTOBER 2008

The week started well and learning continued as usual. The weather has been lovely with the cold having subsided and sunny intervals set in. The children have shed off their heavy coats and look beautiful in their school uniforms.
Wednesday was a public holiday and so school was off for the day.
School resumed on Thursday and students started on their end month examinations which are done for two days.

On Thursday the head teacher and the school business manager visited the Limuru girls hostel in follow up of an earlier visit. The aim of the visit was to enquire how far the process of admitting two needy girls of Grace School into the home had reached. The director of the home promised that the girls present homes will be assessed to establish whether they are needy to be accommodated at the home.
The hostel in turn will enroll two of their girls in grace school who are in class seven since they are attending a public school where the quality of education has drastically gone down.

Meanwhile, the construction work on the dinning hall/ kitchen has continued nonstop.
We thank God for his favor in all our activities.

Grace to you all.
