Back to Current Journal

The Grace Journal is a place where Rev. Wambugu, and perhaps occasionally others of the Grace Ministries staff, will summarize the work of the day or week. We want you to feel that you are an active part of our work and our lives, and hope that this on-going journal of our activities – our joys, our sorrows, and our day-to-day work – will help to bring you more closely into our world.

God bless you for your interest and your support!

The last two weeks have been the busiest at Grace School. A lot of construction has taken place. We have completed construction of the three top classrooms. We have rooms to complete the requirement for the primary education. We have also put up a Kitchen/Dinning Hall which we will stop after doing the lintel. All this work has been done by funds from the foundation. Glory is to God for we shall have a Christmas stress free as regards classrooms.

Two of our staffs have been admitted in Hospital. Miriam and Jennifer for maternity are in hospital for maternity reasons. They are both going through difficult process. Miriam gave birth through operation and has to be in hospital for a few weeks since the child has an infection. Jennifer might undergo an operation too and we are praying that all will go well.

A Good Samaritan gave $1200 to be given to teachers as Christmas gift. This was done on Thursday 21st. This was a joyful surprise to teachers and there was a general mood of thankfulness some too deep that was expressed through tears. The Lord bless all of you for your prayers.

We are visiting our children at their homes especially the orphans. The ones we have visited are very needy materially. Majority of these children are going through the day with only one meal in the evening. They are wishing for the school to open for at School they take mid morning tea and Lunch. The School will open on 8th January 2007.

Our facilities can now accommodate more needy children if we get extra financial support from Friends, present as well as new partners.

The climate has been very good. There has been a lot of rain and sunshine which is conducive to crop growth. The gardens look wonderful. This is the season for Plums and they are plenty in the market. There are two fruits that grow in this area. Plums are ready in December and Pears in April. Vegetables are plenty.

We give thanks to God for the blessing we have received from him this year and thank you for your continued prayers and support.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

FORTNIGHT ENDING SATURDAY 9TH DECEMBER

Grace journal has not posted last week because the School went on Christmas break from 24th November. Due to reduce activity the journal will be posted fortnightly until the School resumes in January 2007.

A lot of activity has taken place in the last two weeks. I was sick with Malaria and I was confined to bed for two days. I have now recovered although not fully for I am experiencing occasional fevers and headache.

There has been a lot of building activities. The construction of the three classrooms is finally completed. There has been internal painting of classrooms and they look very beautiful. The foundation of the Kitchen/ Dinning Hall is almost complete. We shall be able to possibly put up the walls of the Dinning Hall with the money we have. Remember that we got a big funding from Vision Foundation of Knoxville which has enabled us to finish the classrooms and start on the Dinning Hall. We thank God for the people the Lord has used to support financially and with prayers to bring what initially looked as Mission impossible to be an accomplished reality.

Medical Alliance Team which comes to Kenya annually to do free clinics was at Grace School on Friday the 8th. They treated Grace Children, Teachers and many people from the community suffering from all kind of deceases. Grace School facilitates the work of IMA in Kenya. This Team is under Dorothy Davison a retired Nurse Practitioner at UT Hospital with her husband Dr. Dale Betterton a retired Army Emergency Medicine Doctor. I benefited from their coming because they brought us (Samuel and Monica) supplies of Medicine for our Diabetes and High Blood pressure.

Finally Christmas will soon be with us. This is a period that peace of God and love is proclaimed to all mankind. Do you know that there are many children and families who a literally going hungry? Grace has a ministry to many such folks. Please partner with us by putting a smile on the face of the many children we minister to by buying them a bottle of Coke. You can do this through designated gift through your Church or write to us and we shall give you alternative ways.

The Lord be with you and may his love and peace be with you during this festivity season.

Samuel.

Please know that your donation can help, not only to save the life of a child in Limuru, but to guide that life in such a way as to loosen the stranglehold of despair and death that threatens so much of Kenya's population. Thank you, in advance, for your compassionate support!
