GRACE SCHOOL NEWS

Newsletter for April, 2012

After a 15 week long period of learning activities, the school takes a 3 week break for the April holiday. This is the first break of the year 2012. There will be two other breaks in August and November this year.

The term has been full of ups and downs. We have however experienced God's Grace and love in Grace School. At the beginning of the term there was a slight change in staff which saw the departure of the long-serving head teacher, Mrs. Jane Njenga. The team that took over under the leadership of Mr. Karanja has done a good job and is ready to take the school to a higher level.

Closing Ceremony

The school held its first closing ceremony in the year 2012 on 10th April 2012. Parents were invited. They were briefed on the school's progress and also on plans for the second term that begins on 7th May 2012. However there will be remedial teaching for two weeks starting from 16th April 2012 to 27th April 2012.

A lot of emphasis has been put on pupils' performance. Some of the required books have been purchased and much more need to be bought if and when funds are available.

Motivation Programme

Motivating pupils through rewarding the best pupils in various fields has been revived. Best pupils at different subjects per class receive badges.

The badges are issued after every internal examination done at school. We normally administer three exams per term. As a result, competition among pupils has been portrayed as every pupil would like to be honored while the bright ones would like to retain the honor.

Pupils were also rewarded with small presents at the end of the term. This is done according to the pupil's average performance throughout the term.

The programme has been made possible by parents in partnership with the school director Mrs. Monica Wambugu. It is our prayer that the programme will be sustained and more partners would support it to grow, and if possible be in a position to reward members of staff who have continued to serve wholeheartedly.

Wedding Bells

We had an opportunity to witness one of our teachers, Tr. Faith make a lifetime union with her sweetheart, Francis through wedding vows. All members of staff attended. A few pupils attended too. The occasion took place in Nairobi. The members of Grace wish them a happy marriage life full of God's blessing.

School Educational Tour

A school educational tour has been planned in June this year. It will be done during the midterm break on 21st and 22nd June 2012. Pupils are expected to meet the cost by paying an average of Ksh.1500 each. This is about USD. 20 per child.

The tour will be in two groups; one comprising of pupils in the lower classes and the other involving pupils in the upper classes.

Pupils in the lower classes will be visiting various places within Nairobi, which is about 20 miles from Limuru. The tour is scheduled to take place on 21st June. Pupils in the upper primary will be visiting some parts of the Rift valley region including Lake Nakuru National park. This is located about 60 miles from Limuru town.

We look forward for a successful tour after staying for four years without such. We also pray to God that He will make financial breakthrough so as not to leave out any pupil in the planned tours. It is understood that not all pupils will be able to raise the money but we remain hopeful that someone may wish to put a smile on their face once more by giving financial support.

Second Term Budget

Based on the first term's income and expenditure, the school has projected its budget for the second term as follows:

The above budget has been prepared on day to day needs of the school without allocating funds for any major development on the infrastructure. There is however a deficit of USD. 1,566 in our budget and it's our prayer that God will provide in abundance.

Thank You

We take this opportunity to thank all our friends and partners who have always stood with us in times of need. May our heavenly father bless you as you continue to support this ministry. We on our hand pledge to put in good use all the resources you make available towards nurturing the lives of the innocent young ones.
