This term the school run on smoothly and the children cooperated with their teachers and we did infact have very encouraging news about Grace School. As previously indicated, in our weekly journal, we did examination with 68 schools in limuru division which is equivalent to a County. Some of the Schools are very modern and we praise God that we were ranked 7 overall with our class 7 being number 2 in Mathematics. This was an extraordinary performance for a school which most people have never heard. What this means is that Grace School is establishing itself as a promising school that will be able to perform well in class 8 next year. It is only when people know what quality of education that we offer that we shall get children from financially able parents. As we commend the pupils we also Thank God for our teachers who have continuously worked hard to ensure that we can achieve such encouraging results.
In matters pertaining to Staff we had one of our teachers Miss Stella Kamoni leaving the school. As we compile this newsletter we are so grateful that we already have new teacher taking up her place with us for the remedial teaching. Mr. Karanja is a very qualified and experienced teacher and we are proud to have him. Another area is we are trying to bring gender equality. We now have three male teachers against seven Female teachers.

GOOD BYE STELLA

I am Stella and I joined Grace School in September 2004 having little experience from teaching in a public school. I was teaching Mathematics a subject I enjoy teaching.
For the two and half years I have been at Grace School, I have enjoyed the team spirit and the conducive environment for personal growth. I did not only teach, I was also a keen student and learned a lot from my peers, the children and the administration. I have had misfortunes like going through surgery and my father dying and received great love and support from Grace. The Director Rev. Samuel Wambugu encouraged me to learn and even he was instrumental to my playing the green card lottery which I won and which is now taking me to US as a Permanent immigrant.
I have many thanks in my heart to many people who are friends of Grace School like the IMA which paid my surgical bills and the Coen’s Family who were willing to host me when I get to the US. I am proud to be associated with Grace School and it’s my humble prayer that God shall surely expand your territories in all aspects.

WELCOME STEVE

My names are Stephen Karanja Mwaura. I am 25 years old. I was trained and graduated as a P1 teacher in August 2005.
I started teaching in September 2005 at Garissa School which is very far from Grace School. I joined Grace School in April and I have had two weeks orientation while I helped in remedial teaching.
Having stayed in Grace School for a short period of time I hold strong belief that it is the appropriate institution to offer my services at its best. This is as a result of the whole institution’s set up that is focused towards excellence and the manifest fear of God and respect of people. May God help us all to keep maintain our zeal burning.

A PUPIL CAPTURES THE HISTORY OF GRACE SCHOOL
My name is Amos and I am 11 years old. I am in Class seven. Grace School started in 1997 and I joined it in 2001 while it occupied one room divided by cardboards in an abandoned hotel near Limuru bus terminus.
Grace has continued to grow day by day. In 2002, we migrated to our new location behind the general Post Office. That time we had one block but by the Grace and Love of our Lord we continued to prosper. Then we got the second block in 2003. In 2004, God showed His love to Grace School and we got another block which was completed in December 2006.
In 2003 Grace School had only five teachers. The number of teachers has increased and we now have ten teachers. Their main duties include teaching us and assisting in day to day running of the school. Our Head teacher is assisted by the secretary to ensure we have a well organized school and we thank God for it.
In our school, there are one hundred and one pupils in different classrooms. The school has classes from nursery to standard seven. Next year we hope to have a well organized class eight. Our teachers work day by day to make us excel as our motto states ‘EXCELING BY THE GRACE OF GOD’.
We have other activities which are held in classes or outside the classes; these are Scouts, Music and Wildlife clubs. Another activity is a general cleaning every Friday and this keeps our school very neat. In our school we are well looked after in terms of nutrition. We eat well balanced food. We eat food such as rice, beans, cabbages, meat among others. During break time we drink tea and eat bread.
In a year we have major events that happen. These events are very enjoyable. One of them is educational tours. In 2003 we visited Nairobi where we visited places like Giraffe Center, City Park and lastly Snake Park. In 2004, we toured Giraffe Center, Safari Walk and Uhuru Garden. In 2005 we toured Lake Nakuru a major point of flamingos and Kariandusi. In 2006 we went to Lake Naivasha and Hell’s Gate National Park. For this year teachers are planning for more.
We have end of year exams which qualifies a pupil for the next class. We also hold Christmas parties which mark the end of the year. We thank God for our school which has a caring and loving atmosphere. We are very proud to be in Grace School.

COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

The ministry of Grace School and Community Presbyterian Church (C.P.C) is closely interwoven. Most parents with children at Grace School and in the vicinity of C.P.C are members of the church. Their children too are members. They do this voluntarily without any coercion or conditions attached.
C.P.C has been in existence for fifteen years with very little visible growth. However the last two years have been different. Significant number mostly people living with HIV/AIDS have found acceptance at C.P.C after rejection because of their health conditions in other places. We accept, love and support them because none is righteous before God except our Lord Jesus Christ.
C.P.C is struggling in many aspects.
- Funds to finish construction of the Sanctuary.
- Support for HIV/AIDS Ministry.
Any question about C.P.C can be sent to cpclimuru@yahoo.com
