Grace Ministries' News Update

January - March, 2005

Grace ministry with its hub at Grace School has begun the year with a big impact to the community of Limuru. Limuru is located 25 miles west of Nairobi on the main highway to Uganda. A part from the ministry of Grace School whose focus are the orphans and the poor children, the Family Outreach Program has been very active and has stood up to new challenges. The staff has remained dedicated and innovative to meet the ever-increasing demands.

 GRACE SCHOOL:

We are very thankful to God for the completion of three classrooms on the 2nd floor, which provide the much needed space. We were doubtful as to the possibility of having the required classrooms that could have meant sending some children away. God in his speed showed that he needed these children to continue at Grace. He used many of you to give the money that was required to build and to buy desks and furniture. A family that was touring Kenya visited Grace School. Their description of our facility was "Oh! It looks like our Junior High..." We thank God for this wonderful facility. Our prayer is that we shall use it to the glory and praise of his name.

 CHILDREN:

The number of children has increased progressively. We have 80 children; 50 girls and 30 boys. Our facility is capable of accommodating 150 children if we had the necessary funds. We give quality education, feed and clothe by buying school uniform to the very needy children. All the children are needy, but some are more than others. We have a few children from well to do families who pay $20 per term (Three months). The make up is as follows:

20 Children: Pay $20

30 children: Pay $10

30 Children: Pay nothing.

 STAFF:

The number of teaching, administrative as well as support staff has increased as the level and number of children increases.

There are 13 people who are in the service of Grace ministry. Samuel's health is causing concern, as his blood sugar is quite high. He will be seeing a doctor in a week's time to see if he can be put on Diabetic medicine.

 STAFF RETREAT:

The staff took a retreat to reflect on God's faithfulness, love and grace that he has showered to all of us individually and collectively as members of Grace School. We took this moment to pray for our prayer and supporting partners. The staff formulated guiding policies, recommended a different type of uniform and thought together a school motto that captures the aspiration of Grace School which is "Excelling through the grace of God"

 FAMILY OUTREACH:

The aim of the family outreach is to reach basically the family of the children at Grace School with counseling help with occasional material help. We give vegetable seeds as well as ready vegetables from the School Garden. We have on occasions helped mothers who are victims of domestic violence seek means of redressing their unfortunate circumstances through Non-governmental legal agencies.

We are doing all this because of your prayers and support.
